You don't.

Start With an American Mahjong Tile Set

Make sure you're buying an American Mahjong set that includes Jokers and the correct number of tiles for American play.

For your first set, prioritize:

A square table around 34–36 inches wide generally works well because everyone can reach the center. Before hosting, set up the game and make sure nobody will need serving tongs to retrieve a discarded tile.

Comfortable chairs matter more than matching chairs. Mahjong can last several hours, especially when beginners are learning, talking, snacking, and occasionally forgetting whose turn it is.

Consider Portable Lighting

A rechargeable table lamp is helpful for restaurants, clubhouses, patios, or dining rooms where the lighting is lovely but completely useless.

If your current space is bright enough, this can wait. If players are holding tiles beneath the chandelier to identify them, move it up the list. Look for a compact cordless lamp that won't block anyone's view.
